The Women's Opportunity Awardd program assists women by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and job prospects.

Another key program is the Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award which honors girls who are making a difference through volunteer service.

To be considered for the Women’s Opportunity Award or Violet Richardson Award, or to recommend someone please contact the club at info@soroptimistgh.org and specify your interest in the Woman’s Opportunity Award or Violet Richardson Award.

Other local Soroptimist programs include:

Project Safe Harbor: This local program provides emergency support assistance to victims of domestic violence.  Project Safe Harbor is a collaborative effort between SIGH, the Gig Harbor Police Department, and the Pierce County Sherriff’s Department.  It enables women and their dependent children to leave an abusive situation quickly and safely and provides victims with additional informational resources.

Cottesmore Child Development Center: New in 2012, the Child Development Center, located at Henderson Bay High School, is a collaborative effort between Cottesmore, Peninsula School District, and SIGH.  Through this program, the club provides support as requested by the Development Center director and assists in projects to improve the lives of the teen parents and children enrolled in the child development program.

National/International Soroptimist programs:

Soroptimist STOP TraffickingRaises awareness about the sexual trafficking of women and girls, and seeks to encourage citizens, law makers and service providers to focus on this global problem.

Soroptimist Live Your Dream Campaign: Aims to inspire women to live their dreams, and encourages them to pass their good fortune on to others.

Soroptimist Workplace Campaign to End Domestic Violence: Targets domestic violence as a workplace concern.
